Office Policies
Cancellations
All appointments made will solely be reserved for you. We do understand that you have a life with its own commitments and that everyone has unexpected changes to his or her schedule. With more than 24 hours’ notice, our office will try to accommodate your schedule to the best of our ability. However, if you need to cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours’ notice, your credit card will be charged a $50 fee for the missed appointment. We will try to reschedule your session as quickly as possible (that appointment will be billed at the regular fee). It is important to realize that “no show” sessions cannot be submitted to insurance for reimbursement.
Payment Policy
Fees are due at the beginning of each visit, and all payments should be made via credit card. If balances exist after your claim is processed by insurance, our office will bill your card the remaining customer balance and provide you with a statement.
Communication
If you need to reach Dr. Jeffy, please send your message through the Patient Portal. All messages left are completely confidential and will be returned within 24-48 hours.
Medication Refills
Medications are best managed in an appointment with Dr. Jeffy, where effectiveness can be assessed and possible side effects can be monitored. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for medication refills to be processed. Medication refills are made at the discretion of the doctor and will not be authorized if an appointment is past due. Medication refills are not managed during the evenings or weekends when the office is closed. All refill requests can be requested through the Patient Portal. Most medication changes and dose adjustments are made during scheduled office visits.
The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend close monitoring of patients taking stimulants. Dr. Jeffy follows this guideline with the following practices:
Patients who are stable on their medications are typically seen at 3 - 4 month intervals.
Follow-up appointments may be more frequent (every two to four weeks) if new medication is being evaluated, specific symptoms are being monitored, or factors impacting school/work performance, behavior, or mood are being addressed.
Dr. Jeffy follows these practices to ensure that medications are working optimally, and that potential adverse effects, such as decreased appetite and weight loss; increased pulse or blood pressure; mood problems, such as depression or irritability; sleep disruption; or unwanted changes in personality or activity level are all appropriately monitored. Refills for controlled stimulants may not be provided if patients have not been seen in six months or more.
